4th, 5th and 6th June 2010

SOUTHEAST EUROPE
A CULTURAL JOURNEY

Pleased to meet you. We're the neighbours!

Balkan Buro is the proud presenter of a new Balkan culture festival, in the first weekend of June. Southeast Europe, a Cultural Journey is a festival that travels through several cities in Germany, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands. It's goal is to present the possible new Eu countries in the Southeast to the West of Europe. How? By presenting magnificent concerts, great food, literature and film. The festivities are spread over different venues in the city. You just make your choice!

From what? Music, we mainly present great concerts to you. Friday night, Cafe Pakhuis Wilhelmina wil feature the best live Gypsy music from the Balkans, with as main act the top of gypsy acts: Kocani Orchestar. Saturday  is alternative: The most creative squat of Amsterdam will feature the best cult act that Serbia has to offer: Rambo Amadeus! Kriterion will show great Balkan movies on the same day. Sunday: lazy day! We'll start with some impressive writers at Brakke grond, and will continue with a greasy Serbian roast: the Balkan Barbeque! On the square in front of Brakke Grond, a Serbian cook is coming to roast the pork himself! We will collectively digest the weekend to a cinematic experience of underground music in Istanbul.

Dance, eat, enjoy, it's the Balkans to you!

4Tuned Cities

Currently we are still working on the 'next big thing' together with partners in the Balkan to realise a cross cultural film and visual arts event. Our partners abroad are Lokomotiva in Skopje, Kriterion Sarajevo and Skena Up, Dokufest and Dit' e Nat' in Pristina. This one is still in the fundraising phase.

The first fund who awarded our project is the European Cultural Foundation through their Balkan Incentive Fund for Culture (BIFC). We are very glad and thankful to get their support.
